West Hertfordshire hospitals staff have administered more than 20,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to those working in health and social care.

The West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust (WHHT) had been running a vaccination ‘hub’ for NHS and social care workers at the neighbouring Watford Football Club, on Vicarage Road.

Although the hub is now closed, the 20,000 milestone was reported to a meeting of the WHHT board on May 6, by chairman Phil Townsend and chief executive Christine Allen.

In their joint report to the board, they state: “The vaccination team at Watford FC administered over 20,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to local health and social care staff.

“This is a great achievement and we would like to thank staff and volunteers for their hard work during this time.”

In their report they also acknowledged the contribution of the Covid-19 Response Volunteer Hub – with more than 250 volunteers donating more than 15,000 hours of care to the local community.
