Re: Tower in TV misery dispute CLICK HERE to see storyFrom: Mrs Evans
Address: Hemel Hempstead
Views: Regarding the transmitter on the Kodak bulding, how come is it that every one's TV's were fine until work was started on the Kodak building? we have 3 TV's and are unable to get a propper picture on any of them? why should we have to pay £50 plus VAT for some one from Offcom to come out and look for a way to blame us for a problem as it's clear it the Kodak transmitter.
We pay our TV licience but are not able to use the service so who will give use a refund??

Views: Hi Can I just add the lady who has spoken about about the tv reception, I also live in Bassil Road and have lost bbc1 and bbc first of all last week and now lost itv and channel 4, I would like the company to explain this as well as I am not willing to pay for an aerial company to come out to find it has been caused by the scaffolding, I have a new aerial fitted less than 2 years ago and no problems till now...regards Trish Norval

Berkhamsted
Views: Following your October article about the Harlequin ladybirds spotted near Berkhamsted, I am able to advise you that we had tens of the Harlequin pupae and ladybirds over our external bins. I am surprised to find that we still have at least eight or nine there today, 30th November. I have taken four photos today and their markings vary.
Re: Christmas advertising from storesFrom: Mrs J Hardcastle
Apsley
Views: Please could you tell me if I am alone?
Am I the only mother who runs the annual "Christmas Gauntlet" to ensure that my children have the latest "MUST HAVE" toy, game or DVD?
Whilst we are all frantically scaveging to find these sought after luxuries (and I have seen grown women fighting at tills) The likes of Argos, Asda, Sainsburys and Woolworths launch advertising campaigns to promote their Christmas products and money saving deals.
Argos, both in Apsley and Marlowes can not provide my family with any of the items my children require this Christmas, thankfully they have not included a Wii, which are unobtainable ANYWHERE, unless you are so wealthy, you can pay £500 on ebay
Asda have recently been advertising a £50 Electic Guitar? As a Guitar player I was enamoured by this and mentioned it to my Husband as a possible Christmas present.
After two weeks of enquiries from my Husband, he finally indulged me, however, he settled for a guitar with two strings missing and a slight discount. Asda have stopped advertising this as they explained to my Husband "There have limited stocks PER STORE".
Sainsburys advertise Jamie Olivers' recipe selections with Devon Ice cream and I have yet to find any of these ingredients in my local store at Apsley, indeed, you can only purchase White toilet tissue, unless it is Sainsburys OWN
The point I should like to make, is that, OUR readers are influenced by the Advertisements on TV for Stores they should trust. Our local branches are not alone, however, our LOCAL stores can not provide us with the items we require. These corporate company's are advertising something they can NOT provide at a time when it is essential that they do!
I feel that Hertfordshire Residents should set a president for future monopolies and NOT fall prey to the "Hype" surrounding Christmas merchandise.
We should ignore advertisements, ignore Hype and spin and ALL ignore the "Rubbish" we consume about what we BUY?
If a company provides a service and advertises accordingly
SURELY? It must deliver?
Christmas is "For Kids"
Lets NOT forget that
STOP ADVERTISING ITEMS YOU CAN NOT Deliver

Views: Box Lane - You wait ages for a new road to replace the old worn out one, They then lay it awfully and even tarmac over the drains etc. Of course they then have to return to repair it causing more angry traffic. You cannot make this up!!
Re cash axe for bus services CLICK HERE to see storyFrom: Norman Cutting
Views: Cutting a few £thousand on buses, but they can find £millions for the new 'civic zone' (hospital, watch your back!) in Hemel or more to put right the past errors in Berkhamsted (60's concrete shops in conservation area!).
Never mind the people in Aldbury (bus 30/31) or keeping revenue out of the Hemel car parks by cancelling a few bus services.
I suppose the excuse about the developments will be that they will not cost the local taxpayer anything - hummm, seems I've heard that argument before and somehow the figures always prove to be incorrect (Olympics, ID cards, Northern Rock or even Berkhamsted High Street). Sorry, but when it comes to spending our money, for some reason no one seems to be able to say 'we haven't got it, you will get what you said it would cost!'.
Stupid me.
Re Marlowes where the bridge went over the road CLICK HERE to see storyFrom: Anne Broomhead
Views: I read the article a couple of weeks ago asking for information about what shops were by the bridge linking both sides of the Marlowes.
I moved into Hemel in 1969. I can remember the bridge that went across the road. It was by Woolworth's and Timothy White's & Taylors (a shop rather like the present day Robert Dyas) and it went across the road to Tescos. In the mid 1970's, as teenagers, I can remember meeting and hanging around the bridge on a Saturday morning, you could walk through to the Wimpey Bar where a coke and a plate of chips would last 4 or 5 of us about half an hour.

Hemel Hempstead
Another Hemel facility axed to be buried in that patch of town centre scrub grass where the much used Pavilion stood.
I know several people who use it. Useage may have been poor, but try to be positive in initiatives to boost its use.

Views: Please would you be kind enough to acknowledge the ladies at the Hemel Hempstead Station Coffee Shop. They have been collecting from the people of Hemel Hempstead for HOPE and have raised nearly £2,000. They aim to reach this target by Christmas. We would like them to be recognised for their efforts. Thank you.
