Comedians on the menu for the summer

Eating a meal that has been cooked using an iron and trouser press is on the comedy menu at the Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead this summer.

George Egg will be showing how he cooks up a treat in hotel bedrooms while on tour, and there will be a chance to sample new material from comedians prepping for tours.

First up is Susan Calman, as seen and heard on The News Quiz, QI and Have I Got News For You, bringing her Work In Progress to town with an hour of new material in preparation for her tour.

She will be trying out jokes, some good, some bad and some incomprehensible, but all good fun. There’s a chance you might even hear things that will never be heard again.

Suitable for 16+, 8pm on Tuesday June 7. All tickets £10.

George Egg - Anarchist Cook brings one man, one show and three courses to the Old Town Hall following a total sellout at the Edinburgh Fringe last year.

He presents a refreshingly unique show of stand up comedy, striking innovation and extreme multi tasking based around food and cooking.

George spends a lot of time staying in hotels and some years ago, unimpressed with room service, he took matters into his own hands.

Whilst performing a mind bendingly original show of comedy-cum-illustrated-lecture George prepares a three course meal using the equipment hotels unwittingly provide - iron, kettle, trouser press.

And if you want to, you can taste it at the end.

On at 8pm Friday June 17. Tickets £12, concessions £10, Dacorum Card £8.

Bridget Christie - MORTAL - Work in Progress sees award winning Bridget warm up in preparation for Edinburgh with her 11th solo show.

Bridget won the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show in 2013, and the Chortle Award in 2014 for Best Radio Comedy (Bridget Christie Minds The Gap).

Questions asked (and hopefully answered) during her show at the Old Town Hall will include, why are there stickers on Bridget’s eyelids and why did she get a taxi during a charity walk? Suitable for 16+, 8pm on Saturday July 2. All tickets £10.

Tickets for all shows are available directly from the Old Town Hall in the High Street or by calling the box office 01442 228091 between noon and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday or buy online at www.oldtownhall.co.uk
