Have your say

With Valentine’s Day approaching, food hygiene watchdogs at Dacorum Borough Council are urging lovey-dovey diners to check the food hygiene rating of restaurants before they book their romantic meal.

Food outlets inspected to check that hygiene standards meet legal requirements are rated on a scale ranging from a top rating of 5 to the lowest of zero, which indicates that urgent improvement is necessary.

The ratings are available for anyone to view on the Food Standard Agency’s website which can be found at .

People can also download the new Food Hygiene Rating Scheme smartphone app.

Closer to home, visit to see which food outlets in the last three months have been awarded a 4 or 5 star food hygiene rating.

Councillor Neil Harden said “Lots of people go out to celebrate at this time of year. I am pleased to say that 83 per cent) of local food businesses are rated 4 stars or above but I would urge dinners not just to consider the menu, but check the food hygiene rating as well.”
