A new vegetarian restaurant has been given the green light to sell alcohol and play music to diners despite one resident's concerns.
Licensing chiefs put restrictions on the Premises Licence to prevent any nuisance to the neighbour.
Businessman David Metcalfe plans to open the The Green House restaurant in High Street, Tring, later this year.
But Church Yard resident Julian
Bly fears noise from the business may cause a nuisance to his family as his home backs onto the restaurant.
During a Dacorum Borough Council licensing hearing on Wednesday (September 25) Mr Bly said: "I certainly don't want to stop Mr Metcalfe from running a business. I must do all I can to ensure that there mustn't be any intrusion into what we enjoy at the moment."
In granting the licence, music and alcohol will be allowed until 11.30pm seven days a week. Mr Metcalfe was also given permission to serve alcohol until 12.30am into Saturday and Sunday, however, under current planning conditions the restaurant must close at 11pm and customers should leave no later than 11.30pm.
Mr Metcalfe said he plans to apply for the condition to be lifted in the future.
Under the licence the restaurant's rear patio should not be used and windows and doors must be closed when there is entertainment such as a singer or guitarist.
