Tests have been carried out to try and discover what has caused a section of road along the A41 to sink.
The dipped area in the outside lane of the bypass between Berkhamsted and Tring is closed off with cones while the investigation continues.

A spokesman for Herts County Council said: "We've been monitoring a depression in the surface at the side of the road for several months.

"We're now carrying out core tests to see what kind of repair we need to make to the road. The results are expected any day."
