Cakes galore were on offer during the first ever Summer Fun Day at Goldfield Infants' and Nursery School.
The day has been hailed a success by organisers raising more than £5,000 for a special shaded area in the school's playground.

During the event on Saturday (July 12) pupil Poppy Shepherd got to see her ice cream design made into a reality after winning a school competition.

Poppy, seven, beat more than 70 fellow pupils to have her ice cream called Mango Maze made into the real thing by Leicestershire firm Quornden Country Ice Cream.

Chair of the Friends of Goldfield School (FROGS), Hilary Gatehouse said: "It was absolutely fantastic. We couldn't have hoped for a better day. We almost sold out of the ice cream. Everybody loved it."

The group made up of parents was formed in October last year and concentrates on fundraising.

The school in Christchurch Road, Tring previously ran an annual spring fair but this year organisers decided to try something different.

Teachers are also celebrating after being given a top Ofsed report following a recent inspection. Overall the school was ranked outstanding - the top ranking inspectors can give.
