No one has so far come forward with information about a brutal attack on an elderly cat.

However, RSPCA inspectors are still confident that someone knows who attacked 15-year-old Charlie in Aston Clinton, near Tring.

The female brown tabby suffered a fractured hip bone and internal injuries on Monday, September 8 and has since been too scared to leave her owner's bedroom.

A spokesman for the animal charity said: "It is possible that more than one person was involved and they may have bragged about it to others."

Charlie's owner Jacqui Baker, of Weston Road, has warned others with cats to be on their guard as she believes the person responsible lives locally because Charlie never goes far from home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999. Anyone found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal could face a maximum six month prison sentence and/or a £20,000 fine.
