Moves to combat parking problems have been strongly supported by town councillors.

Herts County Council has proposed double yellow lines at several locations in Tring in a bid to stop dangerous and inconsiderate parking.

One problem road is busy Akeman Street where cars clog up the road and in some narrow areas make it difficult or even impossible for larger vehicles, including emergency services, to fit through.

Yellow lines are also proposed for the junctions of Miswell Lane and Barbers Walk, Miswell Lane and Cobbetts Rise and Grove Road and Bunyan Close.

Tring Town Council strongly endorsed the proposals during a meeting on Monday, September 15.

However, Councillor Christopher Townsend said he was concerned that the Akeman Street plan could impact on residents living in other roads in the Tring Triangle. "It will have an impact on the remainder of residents in the Tring Triangle who will have more difficulties parking."

Residents will be consulted before any final decision is made.
