Two men who committed more than 60 burglaries across nine counties including several in Tring have been jailed.
Stan Matei, 43, of Hillfield Road, Wembley was sentenced to six years in prison while Mihai Strelcuic, of Belgraze Road, Birmingham will spend five years and six months behind bars.

During a hearing at St Albans Crown Court last Wednesday (August
20) Matei pleaded guilty to 45 burglaries and Strelcuic admitted 16.

The offences were carried out in Herts, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Beds, Essex, Surrey, Leicestershire and Greater London.

It was recommended that the men be deported back to their home country of Romania once they have completed their sentences.

Under the Proceeds of Crime Act Matei was given an order for £102,000 and an order for £18,000 was imposed on Strelcuic. However, as no assets have been identified to fulfil these orders, if they acquire any assets in the future officers could look to seize these.

Speaking after the court hearing, Detective Sergeant Paul Hedges form Herts Police said: "The actions of Matei and Strelcuic caused misery, disruption and unnecessary inconvenience for many people and I am pleased these men have been convicted and are behind bars."
