Northchurch Parish Council has thrown it's weight behind the campaign to save Tring's waste depot.
The council unanimously agreed to write to Herts County Council to voice concerns about the proposed closure.

Parish councillors said no action should be taken until a similar household waste recycling centre that has been given the go ahead in Aston Clinton is up and running.

They are concerned the closure could result in more fly tipping, increased traffic due to people travelling to alternative depots and Berkhamsted's waste centre unable to cope with the extra demand.

A conservation group in Tring has also objected to the closure.
Friends of Tring Reservoirs fear people will begin to dump their rubbish at a neighbouring wildlife reserve if the Tring tip shuts.

The group, which manages the reserve in Tringford Road, has written to the county council.

Letters of objection can be sent to Ray Greenall, Head of Waste Management, County Hall, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8DN.
