There's no chance of Liz Rogers retiring as long as the bright lights of the stage beckon.
The 69-year-old has little time for slowing down and taking it easy like many others her age.

She's out and about as a film or TV extra, performing in a musical, comedy or play or helping out in her most important role as grandma to three year old twins Elizabeth and Stephen.

Now her latest venture is as the cook in the musical High Society at the Elgiva Theatre in Chesham, near Berkhamsted, from September 16-21.

Mrs Rogers, of Osmington Place, Tring caught the performance bug aged just four when she took part in a dance show.

She said: "I'm very shy in real life but you get me on the stage and I'm a different person.

"I just enjoy the buzz."

But simply performing is not enough to fill her time, she also designs and makes costumes for the Big Dog Musical Theatre Company and is the treasurer.

She's also a regular extra for TV and film and in recent years has been in Little Britain, Green Wing, Judge John Deed, Rosemary and Thyme and the Amazing Mrs Pritchard. Film appearances include The Queen, The Da Vinci Code, Calendar Girls and Love Actually.

Mrs Rogers' career as an extra started out in the 1950s when she moved to London as a teenager and featured in several black and white films.

She has also been in music videos including The Importance of Being Idle by Oasis and The Rose from Westlife.

"I like to keep myself busy. I love doing it, I love every minute. I don't want to retire I just enjoy it too much," she said.

But if you don't recognise Mrs Rogers from her on-screen appearances, her face might ring a bell from her time as the owner of ABC Costume Hire in Berkhamsted, which she sold eight years ago.

Performing alongside her in High Society is 16 year old Sophia Ashwell, of Duckmore Lane, Tring and Adam Wilson, 19, of Wigginton.
