Tring boss hails hero Hall as Heath hopes for top 10 finish
Talisman Graham Hall has proved himself as the best midfielder in the league this season, says his manager.
Tring Athletic are in pole position to claim third place in MSSML Premier Division this term, something which will be achieved should they win at Hatfield this weekend.
It is something his side deserve, said Phil Casserley, and will set them up for having a crack at the title next term.
He singled out captain fantastic Hall, whose brace against Brimsdown Rovers on Saturday was his third in four games and helps keep the club in the running for their best ever finish.
"He's been outstanding all season," said Casserley.
"He's our captain, has led by example and on more than one occasion has dug us out of a hole and has scored 17 goals from centre midfield - goals which have been very valuable to us.
"He's a wonderful footballer and in my opinion the best midfielder in the league."
After being on the back foot for most of the half on Saturday, Vinnie Iannone and Hall scored either side of the break to stub out the Rovers threat.
Hall swept in Ashley Addison's pass for number three and Jack Thompson headed in David Salmon's cross for his second first team goal and Tring's fourth.
MEANWHILE Leverstock Green boss Steve Heath is hopeful his side can finish in the top 10 come the end of play Saturday.
The gaffer watched his side go down 4-1 at Aylesbury, a result that crowned their local rivals champions.
Green held their own for 77 minutes but two late, contentious penalty decisions went against them.
"We can finish ninth or 10th - I said we would finish mid-table so we should be just above that," said Heath, whose side host St Margaretsbury this Saturday.
"For us it's what we expected, and I'm happy with it. The main thing is we have stabilised the club and I have had the opportunity to look at some young players."
He added: "I'm already looking forward to next season."
Green had gone one up on Saturday, Lee Bircham scoring from the spot after Daniel Griggs was upended in the box six minutes in.
Greg Williams headed in the equaliser just prior to the break, before Dale Sears was harshly pulled up twice, in the 77th and 85th minutes, for fouls in the box.
The home side tucked away both spot kicks.
Penalty maestro Crag Henney made it a hat-trick two minutes from time.
Ashley Addison shields the ball for Tring on Saturday.
