Berkhamsted Sports Centre Swimming Club representatives have been competing in the club championships this month.

The youngsters took part in a total of 408 swims, recording 232 personal best times, 29 club records and 42 championship bests, as well as setting 37 new county qualifying times.

BSCSC chief coach Geoff Wood said: “At what is a momentous time for the club, with all-time high numbers of swimmers and lots of other developments happening, these results are better than they have ever achieved before.

“A total of 32 swimmers are now qualified for counties in 2014, with almost 190 events between them. These are numbers we could never even have dreamed of, going back just two years.”

Following their efforts at the club championships, a group of 26 Berkhamsted swimmers travelled to Watford and further blitzed their times across the board.

Once again they put in an excellent display, and gold medals went to Tom Strakosch (3), Rebekah Holden (2), Christian Nel, Zak Patel, Mason Brand (3), Ellen Northwood (2) and Amelie Baker.

Silver medals were won by Hamish MacCaig (4), Tom Weston, Sam Gray (2), Nel (3), Ellen Northwood, Abi Hurst, Jordan Northwood (4), Jess Potts (2), Spohie Durbridge (2), Patel and Baker, while bronzes went to Ollie Hurst (2), Emily Kiernan (2), Durbridge, Nel (2), Gray (2), Amy Stoker and Jenny Atwill.
