Special days at Snow Centre
More than 40 special Olympics athletes descended the slopes at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead.
This year's Open Ski Training Weekend, held last weekend, was extended due to popular demand to include athletes from around the south.
Event coordinator Candia Wragg said the National Alpine Ski Competition, now just 18 months away. boosted interest in the training weekend.
She said: "For some skiers this was their first experience of skiing on snow - and their delight was very obvious."
Five out of the 10 athletes that represented England at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Idaho in 2009 attended, including Hannah Dempsey and Gregg Friend from the south east.
