Relay good results for sprinters

Sprinters from Dacorum and Tring AC sped to victory at the latest Eastern Young Athletes League meeting.

The club's U15 girls and boys 4 x 100m relay both stormed in ahead of the pack at Basildon on Sunday.

Jatila Reavl Blake, Pippa Mills, Megan Smith and Sarah Grover crossed the line in a time of 52.5 with the boys' fab four of Ryan Pereira, Peter Horan, Elliot Copperwhite and Jordan Aikman leaving the rest of the field behind with a record-breaking time of 48.7.

Jatila also took the 100m in 12.8 and the long jump with 4.88m.

Pippa Mills came second in the 100m B string (13.5) and fourth in the shot (5.51m).

Megan Smith, coming back after injury, won the high jump A with a leap of 1.50 with Sarah Grover taking the B string with 1.45m.

Newcomer Beth Highfield jumped 1.45 in the non-scoring category.

Sarah also managed third in the 300m B with Sophie Morris third in the the A string.

Ryan Pereira won another impressive 200m in 24.6 and took second in the 100m in 11.9. Peter Horan won the B String 200m in 25.0, and took second in the 400m with a new best of 55.7.

Joe Coffey came first in the 800m A slicing three seconds off his pb (2.09.8), while Kody Lanca came third in the B with 2.29.3 and second in the 400m B string .

Ross Taylor and Christian Schramm braved the heat in the 1500m, Ross finishing fourth in the A string (4.51.6) with Christian second in the B with a new best (4.59.00).

Tim Buckle came first in the high jump with a pb of 1.71m with Jordan Aikman second in the B string.

Jordan also took first place in the long jump 5.73m with Elliot Copperwhite second in the lB with 4.73m.

In the U17 boys Josh Bignell took first places with pbs in the B string long jump and shot and just missed out on the treble by coming second in the javelin (48.55m).

Bradley Pike jumped a new personal record in the long jump (6.06m) which won him the A string and followed it up with a pb of 12.14m in the triple jump for second.

Niquash Mahmood took third in the triple jump B, Michael Wadlow was first in the discus B and took second and third in the high jump and sprint hurdles respectively.

Sam Clarke's height of 3.20m was enough for first in the pole vault while Chris Line was third in the discus (39.38m) and also the hammer and shot.

Greg Bennett was third in the 400m (57.5) while fourth places went to Ollie Glyn (1500m 4.33.6) and Sam Highfield (high jump, 1.65m).

U17 girl Steffi Huntingford won the high jump (1.50m) and Becky Armorgie took second in the 1500m (5.18.0).

U13 girl Jenna Haile took second place in the 200m with 29.9 and fourth in the long jump with 3.64m.

She also took third in the 800m (2.44.2) while Christina Courquin came second in the B string long jump with 3.50m.

U13 boy Jasper Durrant was on form again winning the sprint hurdles B string (13.8) and the 1500m in 5.07.3, a new best.

Harry Chadwick was third in the A string hurdles in 13.2 and second in the high jump with 1.30m.

Luke Bradley took fourth in the 100m A with 15.1, with Tom Milton home in 15.2 in the B string.

Harry Town was second in the 200m and long jump (28.6 and 4.25m), Jake Hitchcock came third in the 200m B string (29.8) and fourth in the long jump (4.33m).

Newcomer Connor Dolan was placed first in the shot (8.69m) and second in the discus (22.42) with Sam Tooley second in the B string shot.

Louis Glyn took second in the 800m (2.38.2) with Matt Simpson fourth in the A string.
