There are only a few days to go until the starter’s gun is fired to signal the start of the inaugural Berkhamsted Triathlon.

Budding triathletes are being encouraged to saddle up, get on their running shoes and take to the pool on Sunday for the race which is based at the Knox Johnston Sports Centre in Berkhamsted.

The event is being organised by the Berkhamsted Triathlon team, who have a wealth of triathlon experience – both as competitors and coaches.

The driving force behind the bonanza is ultra marathon man Cliff King who has more than 15 years’ experience in specialised sports training, conditioning, flexibility, and endurance.

Event organiser Cliff said: “Whether you are going all out to win, aiming for a personal best, or simply anticipating the satisfaction of crossing the finish line, we hope that you enjoy the event as much as we intend you to!

“On completion, each competitor will receive a participant pack containing various goodies courtesy of our sponsors. There will also be bananas, sweets, biscuits and water at the finish line.

“Many thanks to our sponsors and our volunteers, without whom the event would not be possible.”

Official sponsor for the event is Berkhamsted property consultancy firm Knight Frank, who will be kicking off the race with their own team of five.

Office head Oliver Beales, a keen triathlete himself, said: “We are delighted to be part of the inaugural Berkhamsted Triathlon.

“I have been training with Cliff for some time now and feel this event offers a fantastic opportunity to show people the wonderful community spirit there is in the town, as well as showcasing the picturesque surrounding area.

“It’s a challenging course that I am sure all the competitors will enjoy.”
