A field of 27 started the event with long jump and Amelia’s leap of 4.83metres, while not a PB, was good enough to put her into second place.

Her best event the 75m Hurdles moved her up to first an event which she won. Although her time of 11.7seconds was not a PB it was solid enough to move her up to top spot, where she would stay until the end of the competition.

The third event, the Shot saw Amelia begin to string a series of three PBs together. In that event she added a metre to her previous best with a putt of 8.28m. In the High jump, which followed, she added a full 6 cms to her previous best with a clearance of 1.59 metres, which she cleared on her 1st attempt.

In this event she was to be the last jumper left in. An attempt at 1.62m was a one jump too far however and after falling on the bar, she was pulled out and saved herself for the 800 metres. This also turned out to be an excellent event for her, where she took five seconds off of her previous best coming second in a time of 2minutes 39.52seconds.

Amelia’s overall points total of 2944 was also a big PB and new Dacorum and Tring club points record. This was a massive improvement of 324 points on her previous points PB and moved her up 33 places to 21st on the UK rankings.
