Netball is the fastest-growing and most popular women’s team sport across the globe, and Old Berkhamstedians Hares Netball Club is evidence of that trend.

The club has been running for seven years and, supported by Old Berkhamstedians – alumni of Berkhamsted School – it has gone from strength to strength.

The club currently runs three teams, the leading side being OB Hares Blacks who have just been promoted to Division 2 of Aylesbury District Netball League having remained undefeated all season in Division Three.

The club’s other two sides are OB Hares Greens – who have just been promoted from Division 5 to 4 in the same league – and OB Hares Reds who were only established as a team last year and play in the Hemel Hempstead Netball League where they’ve made a very promising start.

Starting in June, for the second year in succession, the Hares are running a summer league at The Knox Johnson Sports Centre in Berkhamsted for six weeks.

Not only is this a good opportunity for experienced teams to keep fit with ongoing match play through the summer, but it’s also a bit of fun for newly established teams.

The Hares are currently looking for experienced players to join the ranks. Recent success has led to more opportunities for competitive play and the Hares are encouraging anyone who has played previously, and would like to return to the sport, to go along and have a go.

All of the teams train together on a Tuesday evening at The Knox Johnson Centre. Anybody interested in joining the club or entering a team in the summer league should contact Hares club secretary Lisa Baker at OBhares@haresnetball.co.uk
