Gade Valley Harriers tackle the Kimbolton Half Marathon

Gade Valley Harriers duo Claire McDonnell and Rossiana Mee got a sense of splendour on Sunday when they travelled to Kimbolton Castle in Cambridgeshire to compete in the Kimbolton Half Marathon.

Starting and finishing in the castle grounds, the 13.1-mile road race passed through local villages on an undulating route.

McDonnell stormed round to put in her best performance in five years, crossing the line in 1:37:50, claiming second place in her age category. Mee also dug deep to complete in a new PB of 1:43:43.

Gadebridge parkrun had seven Harriers running on Saturday, where Julian Smith charged home in second overall place in 20:32. Smith was followed by Kathleen Courtier in 23:30 (PB), Sam Tucker 26:51, Andy Bishop 27:09, Andy Norton 30:21, Peter Tucker 30:59 and Jan Hudson acting as official back marker in 49:47.

St Albans parkrun saw Matt Ashby setting a new PB of 19:13, with team-mates Steve Newing and Johnny Broom clocking times of 19:39 and 20:21, respectively.

Niki Swan flew the Gade Valley colours at Black Park parkrun, where she set a new PB of 36:39.

James Thomson took to the Eastbourne parkrun in East Sussex where he came home in a respectable 21:31.

Travelling to Brockenhurst in the New Forest, Hampshire, Tom North took on their parkrun, coming home in fourth place overall in 18:44.

Also heading south was Dylan Wendleken, who competed in the Folkestone parkrun, finishing in fourth place overall in 19:01, setting a new PB.
