Saturday was a big day for Gade Valley Harriers representative Vince Ellerby as he reached the milestone of having completed 250 parkruns – the first runner at Black Park ever to do so.

At his home parkrun, Ellerby was joined by 17 of his GVH team-mates, who turned out in force to honour his achievement.

In glorious sunshine, the Harriers ran the woodland trails along with 476 runners where John Lawler was first home for the GVH in 18:11, followed by Ed Price 18:19 (PB), Tom North 18:33, Paul Rumble 19:06, Guy Wollett 19:11, Gemma Bitaraf (1st lady home) 19:30, Vince Ellerby 19:31, Steve Newing 20:08, Simon Wallis 20:13, Jon Roberts 20:33, Andy Norton 20:44, James Thomson 21:05, Johnny Broom 21:09, Dave Wise 23:42, Ross Geary 24:10, Simon Geary 24:10, Carys Thomas 28:04 and Claire Newing 36:37.

Over at the Gadebridge parkrun there were eight GVH runners in attendance, where Julian Smith was first Harrier home in third overall place in 20:04 (PB). Smith was hotly pursued by Bill Hawes in 20:52 (PB), Gina Oliver 26:21 (PB), Vicky Taylor 27:47 (PB), Peter Tucker 30:11 (PB), Veronika Bartalska 30:29, Sam Tucker 40:12 and Sam Hawes 41:59 (PB).

Elsewhere, Shelley Walsh travelled with her daughters Milla and Effie to London on Sunday to take on the Bupa Westminster Mile.

Starting in The Mall and finishing in front of Buckingham Palace, the race includes the British Athletics One-Mile Road Race Championships. Milla crossed the line in 8:56, Effie in 8:58 and Shelley in 8:59.

Robert Bowler was also in London over the bank holiday weekend, where he competed in the London Bupa 10k race, incorporating the British 10k Championships. The race started on The Mall and finished on Spur Road opposite Buckingham Palace, with Bowler finishing in a very respectable time of 44:20.

Also on Sunday, Dylan Wendleken, Tracy-Aldridge Jones and Scott Dixon from the Gade Valley Tri team were competing at the Herts Triathlon in Welwyn Garden City.

The sprint distance triathlon comprised a 750m open water swim, a 20k bike ride and a 5k run, all centred around Stanborough Lakes.

Dixon stormed through the phases and came home to win his age category in 1:10:00 with Wendleken completing in 1:16:00 and Aldridge-Jones in 1:24:17.

Gade Valley Harrier Angeline Cottrill travelled to Berkshire for the Windsor River Trail Half Marathon where she finished the tough, off-road course in 1:57:52.
