As the spring marathon season draws to a close, the Gade Valley Harriers have again been tackling the famous 26.2-mile distance.

On Sunday, Anita Berwick, Tina Searle Andy Norton and Peter Tucker took on the challenge of the Brathay Marathon, around Lake Windermere in the Lake District, Cumbria. First back was Norton in 3:36:43, Berwick crossed the line in 4:39:00, Searle in 4:59:58 and Tucker 5:27:00.

Also on Sunday was the Wheathampstead 10K, where James Birnie, Andy Smith and Luca Ramusino from the Harriers were competing against 667 other athletes. Birnie stormed home in 43:09, Smith chasing him down in 46:37 and Ramusino checking in at 1:05:00.

Emma Nash from the Gade Valley Tri club took on the Hatfield Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, where she completed in 1:27:21, knocking a huge 12 minutes off her previous PB.

In Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, Maxine Bateman knocked a huge 12 minutes of her previous best time at the Tewkesbury Half Marathon to set a new PB of 2:01:51.

Meanwhile, the parkruns had GVH entrants at five events on Saturday.

At the newly formed Gadebridge parkrun, 21 Harriers were showing their colours around the 5k course.

First home was Rich Coles, in third overall place, in 19:10. Coles was hotly pursued by Scott Dixon in a new PB of 19:30, Antony James 20:08, Paul Rumble 20:24 (PB), Bill Hawes 21:02 (PB), Andrew Watt 23:39 (PB), Kathleeen Courtier 23:39, Rupert Cavenagh-Mainwaring 23:08 (PB), Andrew Watt 23:39 (PB), Dave Wise 24:39, Russ Bailey 24:45, Gina Oliver 27:42, Vicky Taylor 28:22, Veronika Bartalska 29:43 (PB) William Terry 33:13, Andy Terry 33:15, Sam Hawes 42:55 (PB), Charlotte Hawes 45:09 (PB), Nicci Hawes 45:13, Lola Whiston 49:16 and Angeline Cottrill 49:17.

Black Park had Mikey Ferris, Vince Ellerby and Sian Hibbs taking on their parkrun, with Ferris fist home in 18:55. Ellerby chased him home in 19:56, with Hibbs completing in 22:56.

In St Albans, Gade Valley Harriers club chairman Andy Newing, Andy Cook and Robert Bowler took on the 5k challenge. Cook was first back for the Harriers in 20:34, Bowler crossed the line in 21:46 and Newing clocked a time of 24:59.

At the Tring parkrun, Gade Valley Harrier Berit Hagen powered home in 42:09, and in Coventry, James Thomson crossed the line in 21:04.
