Luke who's laughing now!
Luke Stickland smashed Bovingdon's best-ever run total to help put them top of the league.
Luke, 28, hit 182 for the village side on Saturday in their game with Dunstable IV.
"I'm still a little bit stiff today but it's well worth it," said Bovvie's third batsman, who smashed his season's pb of 87.
"I had a feeling a couple of days before I had a big score in me. When I got out there it just all clicked really."
His partnership with number four Jack Blackburn (70) earned his side 122 runs, but after his partner's dismissal he really began to turn on the style.
He bagged 22 fours and nine sixes en route to beating the record score of 175, which had stood since 1995.
His best shot of the day, a six straight over the bowler, earned him the runs needed to set the new record.
Luke, whose best ever score was 107 before Saturday, was a little disappointed not to notch a double century:
"Maybe I should've thought a bit more about it," he said. "But still I would have bitten someone's hand off for that score at the beginning of the day!"
Bovvie declared on 344-4, seconds after his departure in the 43rd over, and then dismissed Dunstable for 140.
