Hornets hover just above dreaded drop zone

Watford are just two points clear of the relegation zone after their third loss in succession.

They were beaten 1-0 at home by Swansea, an early Shefki Kuqi goal doing the damage just days after the Hornets' 2-0 defeat to Derby.

"The team has got to stay calm and keep believing in what they're doing – which is putting in performance after performance" boss Malky Mackay said afterwards.

"I look at tonight and the way we played in the main and the chances we created, I can't be too down on the players.

"I'm desperately disappointed tonight because we deserved something from that game."

On the night Danny Graham and Lloyd Dolyley had first half headers cleared off the line before Finn Kuqi headed in Craig Beattie's cross in the 18th minute.

The men in yellow continued to press in the second half but just couldn't find the net. The superb Dorus de Vries keept out Watford's best effort – which came from Heidar Helguson – with a stunning save.

The Hornets will be looking to hold off the threat of relegation this weekend when they entertain bottom side Peterborough in their second of three home games on the bounce.
