Oxford are taught a lesson by Tring firsts
The Tring men’s first team continued their unbeaten start to 2013 with a 3-0 win over Oxford IV.
Despite not being at their best, Tring easily overcame a lacklustre Oxford team courtesy of a hat-trick of drag flicks from short corners by captain Ash Tillett.
The men’s second team also maintained their good form as they recorded a 4-3 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Milton Keynes Samurai with goals from Tom Alderton, David Bonner, captain Greg Walton and James Heath.
The victory makes it five wins on the spin for the Tring side.
Elsewhere, a brace from Dan Thompson was not enough to prevent the men’s third team from slipping to a 7-2 defeat to Milton Keynes VI, but the SuperVets picked up their second win of a difficult season with a 6-2 thrashing of rivals St Albans.
Jim Watson scored a hat-trick, and efforts from Gary Arthurs, Keith Stokes and an own goal completed the scoring.
For the ladies, the first team ran riot over Bishop Stortford III, winning 10-1 courtesy of goals from Jenny Wrench, Holly Glover, Megan Sawh, Ella Whitehead and Katie Turnbull.
The ladies’ second team didn’t fare quite so well, beaten 5-0 by Harpenden II, while the ladies’ third XI put up a spirited display but lost 4-0 to second-placed Hertford III.
