Hemel head into county cup semi
A NARROW win for Hemel Town CC has put them through to the semi final of the County Cup.
They beat league foes Knebworth Park with just two balls to spare, surpassing their 273-7 with 274-8.
In the next round Hemel, who are second in Division Two East of the Home Counties Premier League, will face Radlett, who are sixth in Division One.
They will battle it out on Sunday, August 15 for a chance to meet Bishops Stortford or Harpenden, top in Division Two East and bottom of Division One respectively, in the final.
Knebworth were put into bat first in the quarter final on Sunday.
Paul Mackie, pick of the Hemel bowlers, took 3-43, and helped give his side a reachable target for the second innings.
Opening batsman Hemish ilangaratne got his side off to the perfect start, hitting 59, while his team mates chipped in with runs as the overs ebbed away.
Mark Brazier was the man who got the vital runs for Hemel.
In the final over, the ninth batsman hit a two, six and another two to take his tally to 14 and seal a spot in the semis.
