Wasted journey for the Berko first team

The Berkhamsted first team made the trip to Hanwell Town on Saturday – only for the game to be called off less than an hour before kick-off.

Torrential rain had added surface water to the pitch since its morning inspection, and the match referee decided the game could not go ahead.

The conditions were similar at Pancake Lane on Saturday, but the game between Levy Green Reserves and Berkhamsted Reserves did go ahead.

A decent crowd saw the Comrades dominate proceedings, but they could not put the ball in the net and Levy held on for a rare Suburban League North point.

On Thursday night, Berko’s U18 side go to Hillingdon Athletic to play the All Stars Academy.

The first team take on struggling London Tigers at Broadwater on Saturday.
