Tring Athletic eye up new recruits as pre-season schedule gets started

Tring Athletic Football Club are still busy building their team on and off the field in preparation for the start of the 2015/16 SSML Premier Division campaign.

The club are on the hunt for a coach and a specialist goalkeeping coach, as well as new recruits for the first team and reserve team squads.

Tring manager Julian Robinson said: “We have signed a few new players, but we are always looking to add quality players to the squad and in turn improve what we have.

“It’s that time of pre-season where players are starting to look around at other clubs lower down the non-league structure.

“They realise having done their pre-season at various Calor Gas, Ryman or South Midlands clubs – and despite what they were told and the promises made to get them there in the first place – that they are not going to make the club’s first 11.

“It’s a difficult situation to be in; players want to play, in the cold light of day most players won’t fancy sitting on the bench for the foreseeable future and not getting game time – hopefully we can give them that chance.”

The Tring boss continued: “The last couple of seasons we have done very well with this type of player and hopefully we can attract and welcome a few more of these players to the club as the pre-season friendlies start.

“These friendlies are a great chance for players to join a good, well-run club, play regular football at a decent level, and impress.”
