Hemel Hempstead Rovers booked their place in the semi-finals of the Herts Junior Cup with an emphatic 8-3 victory over Northolt FC.

Despite going behind early on, Rovers soon levelled things up and took a 3-1 lead into half-time thanks to goals from Paul Hanafan, Nick Jackson and a header from Michael Tearle.

After the break, Hemel’s Jordan Aikman rifled in almost from the kick-off and Jackson found the net again to put his side 5-1 ahead.

Rovers, however, sat back thinking the job was done and Northolt quickly pulled two goals back.

This woke the home side up and Aikman and Hanafan netted again to put the result beyond doubt with further goals, before Hanafan struck for a third time to complete his hat-trick.

Elsewhere, with the majority of Dacorum pitches still waterlogged, only a few matches went ahead In the league.

Kings Sports put four goals into the AFC Finchley net as Dan Imlach helped himself to a brace and Dan Tomkins and Darren Hewitt also found the target in a 4-1 victory.

Tring Athletic A could not find a way past a resolute Hadley defence, however, as they slipped to a 1-0 home defeat.

Bovingdon’s season continues to get worse after they suffered another hefty beating – this time a 7-0 loss to neighbours Sarrat A.

There was good news from the Potton End camp, though, as they recorded a resounding 8-1 thrashing of Maple Cross Reserves.

Rob Hopkins led the scoring with four goals and Dale Jenkins (2), Jon Ruffett and Dan Simpson completed the rout.
