Rain halts play for the Sunday league teams

Only three games took place in the Berkhamsted Sunday Friendly League this week after the Dacorum pitches took a battering from heavy overnight rain.

All of the Steve Norwood Challenge Cup fixtures were postponed, while the league’s solitary Premier Division fixture was also a wash-out.

Division One sides Old Grey Mare and Sportspace managed to play their fixture, however, with Dean Gavin (3), Anthony Beddall and Mark Marum helping Mare to a 5-1 win.

Division Three saw The Three Tuns and Potten End Sunday share a 3-3 draw. Stuart Hall, Alex Kingsley and Jay Hampstead netted for Tuns, with Lee Owens, Michael Young and Michael Rees replying for Sunday.

In Division Four, hat-tricks by Matt O’Kelly and Greg Goodchild, as well as a Doug Sims effort, helped Sporting Blackbirds to a 7-0 win at The Old Bell Gate.
