The first half especially saw FC produce their best passing game and they arguably deserved more than their 1-0 half-time lead, but a terrific second half strike from the in-form Lynton Goss ensured victory.

The Moles started positively as new boy Lamar Simpson fired goalwards early on before James Weatherill denied the hosts.

Goss and Jeanmal Prosper were next to go close for the visitors as they pressed for the opener, and Gareth Price was another man to try from distance but his effort flashed over the bar.

Aylesbury came even closer through Simpson’s effort that cannoned off the post and that was followed by Goss and Rob Tomlin having further efforts.

Finally, the deserved breakthrough materialised when a corner from the right was met my Prosper whose low volley gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Simpson continued to provide an attack threat in the second half as he fizzed a low shot just wide before Jamie Rudd and youngster Ken Feyi spurned decent chances to extend FC’s lead.

Tring had a great opportunity to level the scores on 83 minutes however the chance was skewed wide with Weatherill narrowing the angle.

There was just a minute left when the second goal finally arrived. Goss picked up the ball 30 yards and after a couple of touches, he unleashed a venomous shot which zipped past the keeper and into the back of the net.

The Moles host Berkhamsted for their final pre-season friendly this weekend.
