Levy girls sail through to set up derby clash
Leverstock Green Ladies U18 5 Standon & Puckeridge 1
Despite being the only U18 side still standing in the County Cup, the Levy Green girls maintained their winning run to sweep into the quarter-finals and set up a mouth-watering tie at Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies.
Levy were distinct underdogs going into the tie against Standon & Puckeridge – currently second in their league – but they looked the more threatening of the two sides early on.
After a decent period of possession Levy began to create chances, and with 22 minutes played, the hosts forced a corner which was fired in by Pru Squires-Adams and met full on the volley for a stunning goal for Cally Salter.
And 11 minutes later, Levy doubled the lead as Salter bagged her second, firing the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
It took just eight minutes for the lead to be further extended after half-time, when Squires-Adams combined well with Ellen Salter who swept into the box and fired a powerful shot over the line.
And just two minutes later, Cally Salter completed her hat-trick when she latched onto a fine passing move before lobbing the goalkeeper.
With little under 20 minutes remaining, the Levy defence was finally breached, but the home side swept back up-field and fed Squires-Adams to make it 5-1.
