Hat-trick hero Sizer has the measure of Storm in the cup

Tring Athletic A made it through to the next round of the Herts Junior Cup with a narrow win at AFC Storm.

Glen Sizer was the Tring hero – his hat-trick doing the damage in the 3-2 victory.

Joining them in the third round are Hemel Rovers, who thrashed Cottered FC 6-1.

Olly Buckley fired home two superb strikes and Tom Porter, Michael Tearle, Michael Hoare and Alex McCarthy completed the scoring.

Kings Sports beat Ware Lions 4-1 with goals from Dan Tomkins (2), Lee Plowright and Jon Pilkington, and Gadebridge FC also cruised through after Lewis Crowys, Dan Hartley and Eliot Rowland earned a 3-1 win at Ware.

Bovingdon were awarded a walkover against Hertford Heath Reserves, but it was the end of the road for Potten End after they were beaten 5-2 at home by Broxbourne, despite a Dale Jenkins brace.

Elsewhere, Hemel Rovers A lost 4-2 at Engineer Harpenden in the second round of the Rous Cup. Mike Pettingell and Jamie Russell were the Rovers marksmen.

In West Herts League action, goals from Curtis Donaldson (2) and Asher Alleyn were not quite enough as Division One side Hemel Rovers Reserves went down 4-3 at Oxhey Jets.

Division Three outfit Gadebridge Reserves bagged all three points in a 3-2 win over Oxhey Reserves. Chris Size bagged a brace and Chris Walsh also got his name on the scoresheet.

In the Herts County Senior League Reserve Cup, meanwhile, Bovingdon Reserves recorded a 3-2 victory over Croxley Guild Reserves.
