There were debuts in the Berko starting line-up for full-back Dan Weeks - signed from Sun Sports - and Aaron Nash-Barker in midfield, with the rest of the side being players returning from last season.

The first half was fairly even, with Comrades keeper Cark Tasker pulling off the save of the day after 15 minutes.

However, it was Berko who took the lead with a solo goal from Adiel Mannion on the half hour mark.

In the second half Mannion pounced again when a defender slipped and he ran on to net under the goalkeeper at the Canal End, before teenage substitute George Carbery finished well to make it 3-0 to Berko.

The visitors pulled a goal back with a shot under Tasker by Polish striker Sewern Syska, who has been playing in the Scottish League.

Berko then hit the post, with Carbery blasting the rebound into the canal from close range, before Josh Chamberlain came on as substitute and was left unmarked to head home Berko’s fourth goal.

Mannion completed his hat-trick, just managing to prevent Max Farrelly from stealing the goal, while It was Carbery who completed the scoring with Berko’s sixth with another low shot.

Tomorrow night, Berko go to SSML Division One side Winslow United, and the pre-season programme continues with a trip to Clarence Park to take on a St Albans XI on Saturday.

The Comrades’ next home game is on Tuesday, July 28 when they entertain Dacorum rivals Kings Langley who won the SSML Premier Division last season.
