Football teams in need of a big thaw
With snow and frost having caused a blanket of cancellations at the weekend, Dacorum teams will be hoping for a dramatic change in conditions over the next few days.
Things do not look good for this weekend’s fixtures with temperatures of minus 10o C forecast for Saturday night – but Dacorum’s big five will all be in action should the weather take a turn for the better.
Saturday’s postponement came as a blessing in disguise for managerless Hemel Town, who are still weighing up their options following the sudden departure of boss Tommy Widdrington last week.
The Tudors are in desperate need of a boost if they are to stave off the threat of relegation this season, and a victory over Chippenham Town at Vauxhall Road on Saturday would do just the trick.
It will be a tough game for Hemel, though, with Chippenham currently sitting 13 places above the Tudors in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division table in seventh.
Chippenham picked up a 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture between the sides earlier this season, but Hemel can take heart from the fact that Chippenham are without a win in their last six league outings.
Elsewhere, Dacorum’s three MSSML Premier Division sides are all scheduled for action on Saturday.
Levy Green are set to play host to Hanwell Town, Tring Athletic are due to travel to Hatfield Town, and Berkhamsted are preparing to welcome St Margaretsbury to Broadwater.
Levy will be expecting three points from their clash with Hanwell, who currently lie bottom of the table with just 17 points from 28 games.
Tring will also be hopeful of returning from Hatfield with a victory, with the hosts currently struggling in 20th place.
St Margaretsbury should provide a sterner test for Berko, but Mick Vipond’s side will be hopeful that home advantage can prove decisive against their 12th-placed opponents.
Division One side Kings Langley, meanwhile, are also scheduled for action on Saturday as they take on Sun Postal Sports in the Herts FA Senior Centenary Trophy semi-final.
Kings go into the clash as strong favourites against a team lying 18 positions behind them at the foot of the league table.
