Hale Leys opened strongly but Corries scored on their first attack with a sizzling move. Groves interlinked with the midfield and debutante Sonny Aird darted down the wing and crossed into the box, where Matt Myatt was on hand to fire home from 12 yards.

Five minutes later Tring were in dreamland as Aird shot from 30 yards and the ball flew past Jenkins in the Hale Leys goal to make it 2-0.

Hale Leys were rattled but they pulled a goal back on 30 minutes with a fine headed goal, and Corries keeper Travers pulled off a couple of excellent saves to keep his side in the lead.

The impressive Joe Jary stormed through just before half-time for Corries but fired over.

The second half ebbed and flowed – Hale Leys were on top but Corries looked a threat on the break.

Callum Kerr thought he had made it 3-1 but was ruled offside, and 60 seconds later Hale Leys pressed down the right to level things up and salvage a point.

In the end the draw was a fair result, and Corries will look to take this level of performance into future games.
