Comets Dolphins U18 remain on course for a superb quadruple after winning the WFL League Cup final 3-1 against London Maccabbi at Harvesters on Sunday.

Comets – who won the Herts County Cup final 5-1 against EJA champions Codicote on Wednesday – went a goal behind against Maccabbi but received a large slice of luck minutes later when the referee denied Maccabbi’s claims that a Comets defender had handled the ball on the line to deny them a goal scoring opportunity.

A brilliant solo goal from Casey O’Gorman, who took out two defenders and then slotted into the far corner, restored parity by half-time.

Comets then dominated the second period, with O’Gorman setting up Jacob Trigg to put them 2-1 ahead.

Jack Dixon widened the scoreline in the closing minutes, completing a move set up by a long Harry Hartnell throw-in, which handed the Dolphins their 28th win in 30 games this season.

To complete the quadruple, Comets need at least draw from their final league game at home to Ommonia on Thursday to take the WFL league championship. They then play the Challenge Cup final against Croxley on Sunday at Harvesters FC.
