The Cavendish School football teams enjoyed an excellent campaign as they reached four of the six year group District Cup finals – winning two of these and finishing as runners-up in the other two.

The Year 9s took on Hemel Hempstead School at Berkhamsted FC, coming back from behind twice to force a penalty shoot-out courtesy of goals from Joe Chott and Tom Dean.

It was then left to Reece Chapman to clinch the victory for Cavendish as he converted the last penalty kick to secure a 4-3 win.

The Year 10s, meanwhile, played Tring School in what was their fourth cup final appearance in as many years.

Cavendish went 1-0 down before coming back to equalise through an own-goal before half-time.

The second half remained even for long periods before late goals from Jesse Highfield and Matt Estabrook sealed a 3-1 victory for Cavendish.

It was not such good news for the Year 11s, however, as they lost 3-2 after extra-time to Tring School, having been 2-1 up with just five minutes of normal time left to play.

Elsewhere, the U18s lost 2-1 to Ashlyns School – missing two penalties in the game and hitting the post and crossbar.
