Goalkeeper Lewis Brandon was the hero for Tring Royals as he saved a penalty before dispatching his own to send his side through to the fourth round of the Herts FA Sunday Junior Cup.

Harry Bullifent, Tommy North, Andy Young and Ryan Drake had scored for Tring as the game finished 4-4, before Brandon hit the winner in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

Elsewhere, Ryan Rowe also had a day to remember as his hat-trick helped Apsley Athletic through to the next round at the expense of Benego Tigers. Jake Burgess was the other Apsley scorer in a 4-2 win.

It was not such good news for Potten End Sunday, however, as they were eliminated from the competition after Marshalswick Rovers produced an extra-time blitz.

With the scored locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes, Marshalswick upped the ante in extra-time to secure a 7-2 victory.

The Three Tuns were also knocked out, losing 3-0 at Hertsmere.

In the BSFL League Senior Cup third round, meanwhile, AFC Boars cruised to a 5-0 win over Drays Athletic courtesy of strikes from Sonny French (2), Jeff Mensah, Jay Austin and Jamie Hall.

Comets Sports Club also went through to the fourth round, with Rob Gallagher netting all the goals in a 3-1 victory over The Robin Hood.

In league action, Premier Division side Berko Tornadoes had a Tom Shaw brace to thank for their 2-1 win over Park Rangers, while Paul Branson (2) did the damage for Warners End in their 2-1 victory against White Hart Rovers.

Hemel United also bagged three points, edging past Gossoms End 4-3 with efforts from Lee Butler, Carl Davidson (2) and Scott Carrington.

VFC were the biggest winners in Division One, thrashing The Midland 5-1 thanks to goals from Marcus Tower (3), Lewis Rodrigoe and Jordon Fredericks.

Will Wall and Ben Butler were on target for Leather Bottle in their 2-0 win at Boxmoor, while Greenacres II saw off Run DFC 2-1 with goals from Lee Winter and Michael Hoare.

There were plenty of goals in Division Two – 11 of them coming in Comets Reserves’ 6-5 triumph at KLCC. Miley Cash (3), Scott Vaughan (2) and Dean Lee were the scorers.

Berko Tornadoes Reserves also hit six as Adam Moulster (4), Matt Barnett and David Jones helped them to a 6-3 win over Landrovers, while Ross Eddy got both the goals for Echoes in a 2-1 victory against The Queens Head.

Doves United won 3-1 at FC Intervino with strikes from Connor Deadman, Tyler Smith and James Trill-Green, and The Bull Athletic had Martin Pike, Ryan Roberts and Ryan Smith (3) to thank for a 5-2 win at The Bull Athletic.

In Division Three, hat-tricks from Matt Dalton and Mike McVeigh earned a 6-1 win for Berko Athletic over FC Berko, while Adam Klyne, Chris Hall, Ben Jackson and John Larter netted for Park Rangers Reserves in a 5-2 triumph at The Three Blackbirds.

Drew Duggan helped himself to a hat-trick in crushing 5-0 win for AC Grapes at Boxmoor Rangers. Mike Pettingale and Paul Heath also netted.

Palace were on top form in Division Four, cruising to a 5-0 win over The Old Bell Gate with efforts from Mark Purcell (2), Chris Richards, Jamal Ayoub and Neil Harper.

Big GC FC edged past Herts Fencing 5-4 courtesy of efforts from Adrian Keane (3), Thomas Bull and Jake Hosier, while a Will McLean strike was enough to earn three points for Boxmoor Rangers Reserves at Drays Athletic Reserves.
