Defeat meant that the much changed Berko side finished fifth in the SSML Premier Division behind Welwyn Garden City on goal difference.

Bircham placed a fine shot just inside the post to beat Rob Evens and give Sun an early lead after just seven minutes.

Sun Sports stopper Ross Hampton was the busier keeper, tipping a couple of efforts around the post, but Bircham struck again before the half hour mark as the ball was laid into his path on the edge of the area.

Berko were soon back in it when Alex Campana slammed home to ensure he finishes as the Comrades’ top scorer for the season.

Aaron Nash-Barker had chances to get a hat-trick but it was not his day.

Early in the second half skipper Jim Baldry blasted a drive against the crossbar and Bradley O’Donovan’s follow up was saved.
