Battling draw for Kings Langley

Kings Langley fought back from behind on two occasions to earn a point at Stony Stratford Town.
Continuous rain made the playing surface difficult, but Stony initially coped the better with the adverse conditions – testing Kings keeper Ant Ladyman on four minutes and going ahead soon afterwards when a powerful Pete Geyton free-kick was volleyed in at the far post.
Kings worked hard to get back in the game and began to create openings, levelling with a flowing move as the half hour approached.
Sam Warrell, showing remarkable control of the ball in the conditions, received a waist high pass, turned and volleyed a perfect ball out to the right wing. Jack Johnson, making his 200th competitive first team appearance, took the ball in his stride and his low cross was swept into the net by Jimmy Armstrong.
Parity was to last just three minutes, however, as a carbon copy free-kick by Danny Nicholls went in off the far post.
Langley introduced Craig Lynskey for the second half and looked a lot more dangerous going forward.
Nathan Pooley saw a jinking run past three defenders end with a save, and then hit the bar from a free-kick, before Lynskey latched on to a ball thirty yards out and unleashed a missile into the top-right corner of the net.
Unsurprisingly, the treacherous surface caused plenty of physical contact and the game became a little tetchy, but both sides battled well until the end.
Kings thought their second half ascendency had earned the points when a Tom Carter header came off the bar, while Ladyman produced a wonder save at the other end, as the spoils of a gruelling encounter were shared.
