AFC Boars off to a winning start in league curtain-raiser

Boars took an early two-goal lead and a third was scored before half-time, but the first half had been very even and the scoreline was harsh on Flaunden. In the second half, Flaunden fought back to bring the score back to 3-2, but just before the end of the game, a penalty scored by Boars saw them seal the 4-2 victory, thus retaining the Trophy.

The AFC Boars goalscorers were Curtis Donaldson (2), Lewis Cruwys and Charlie Martindale, with Lee Butler and Josh Hutchinson Kemal on target for Flaunden.

The league officers thanked Hemel Town FC chairman Dave Boggins and his fellow committee members for once again allowing the league to use the pitch and facilities.

The league season itself starts on Sunday and, despite a great decline in Sunday grass roots football around the country, the league has still managed to run four divisions.
