Falcons still soaring in country's top league
Herts Falcons bounced back from last week's double defeat to record wins which keep up the pressure at the top of the National Baseball League.
The Hemel Hempstead-based side lost a double header to second-placed London Mets last weekend, but Sunday's crunching defeat of Bracknell Blazers keeps them in third place and within touching distance of the top.
Falcons manager said Jason Greenberg said: "We needed to bounce back and we did so in style. Everyone was disappointed after the London games and we challenged each other to respond. We did and now we have to keep this going."
"The fact that we came back makes the wins even more special."
Their first fixture on Sunday was a tight one, Greenberg's men emerging 7-5 winners. Luis Goncalves, Andy Cornish aand Greenberg all posted two runs each with Lin Yuchih getting round once.
The second was more convincingly won by 10-6, Goncalves notching another two runs, along with Yuchih (2), Darrin Ward (2) Aspi Dimitrov (2), Dan Kerry (1) and Kimiyoshi Saionji (1).
Week 11 sees Falcons Croydon Pirates at their Grovehill Ballpark this Sunday, with the first pitch being thrown at 11am.
The club's second side Herts Eagles are third-placed in the AAA Pool Two, with AA side Herts Hawks fifth in their division and Herts Raptors second in Pool A of the A League.
