Duo set sights on St Andrews
Two golfers will follow in the footsteps of the game's greatest names by playing at one the world's most famous courses.
Little Hay members Jim Lochead (handicap 10) and Phil Chester (handicap 14) will take on St Andrews at the NAPGC UK Public Course Championship final.
They qualified among 80 competitors in a regional heat at Hoebridge, near Woking, last Monday (July 19) and will play in the final on Sunday, September 26.
Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning and members of the second Batallion The Royal Welsh Regiment took part in Little Hay's charity day in support of Help for Heroes on Sunday, where 1,500 was raised.
David Garbutt was the top-scoring man in the event with .. points, while Sola Ogundimu (43 points) was second and Richard Robinson (42 points) was third.
The longest drive was won by Anthony Perry with David Toms winning nearest the pin.
For the ladies Barbara Frost (41 points) was top, with Jean Dove (41 points) second and Jenny Williams (40 points) third. Longest drive winner was Linda Cusick and nearest the pin champ was Laura Roff.
Meanwhile Liz Mapely will see her handicap reduced after winning the Ladies Basildon Bond Rose Bowl last Monday.
She came in ahead of Rachle Bylo (38 points) and Sylvia Lutt (37 points).
The senior men won their latest match, 5-1 at home to Rickmansworth.
