Cricketing countdown continues

Only two weekends are left for teams to try and secure promotion or escape relegation across the Herts Leagues.

Tring Park (220-7), the top side in the borough who are fourth in the Home Counties Premier League, have little to no hope of making it to the top of the table b but they did themselves proud good with a three-wicket defeat of Radlett (217-10).

Keith Dutch got 82 runs in the process.

Likewise Hemel Hempstead Town (117-10), who missing half their first XI went down by 26 runs to North Mymms in Division Two East of the HCPL.

The second-placed side couldn't capitalise on league-leaders Bishops Stortford's loss to Sawbridgeworth.

Hitesh Patel (3-32) had the best return with the ball for Hemel while Brett Penney (29) was below-par but still top-scorer.

To the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, and Langleybury (112-5) did their survival chances the world of good with victory over Old Finchleians (111-10) in Division One.

Leverstock Green's teams all won their matches, the top team (49-5) beating Chorleywood (47-10) by five wickets to all but secure survival in a low-scoring game.

Berkhamsted (103-10) lag 10 points behind their rivals having been beaten by Hoddesdon (107-5), Jack Kilgannon the only man to make an impact at the crease for Berko with 52 runs.

Division Two, and mid-table Redbourn (183) inflicted further woe on local rivals Northchurch (182-9) who are staring relegation in the face.

Dan Darvell (4-59) did much of the damage for the Redbourn bowling attack whilst Geoff Tookey (77), Dan Roe (72) and Steve Root (53) did the business with the bat.

Root made his total, which included 10 fours and a six, from just 58 balls.

Hemel Hempstead II (116-10) collapsed against promotion pushers Knebworth Park II (22-2), Kam Akhtar (33) and Alex Collman (25) the only Hemel players to hit double figures.

Promotion is surely on its way for Chipperfield Clarendon (231-6) who continued their winning run against Waltham X Rosedale (186-10) in Division Three.

Abbots Langley (201-7) remain in a promotion place in fourth despite going down to Bishops Stortford II (204-9) in their game.

Mitch Roberts top-scored as Kings Langley (230-6) moved up to sixth. He hit 121 not out as the Kings demolished Northwood Town, Christian James taking 5-61 to dismiss Northwood for 174.

Chipperfield Clarendon III (69-4) are on the cusp of the Division Four relegation zone, though they did their survival hopes some good with a six-wicket defeat of Hatfield Crusaders (68-10).

Imran Iqbal took 7-38 as Leverstock Green II (111-10) kept above the drop zone with victory over Langleybury II (71-10).

The loss has dented fourth-placed Langleybury's hopes of promotion from Division Five.

Berkhamsted II (117-9) are hot on their heels in sixth after a draw with Southgate Compton (175-6).

Phil Freebrey (7-8) was the star of the show as Hemel Hempstead Town III trounced Preston II (38-10). He racked up the best Division Six bowling figures for 10 years.

Scott Radcliffe top-scored with 41 runs to boost Hemel's survival hopes.

Northchurch II's (77-10) season goes from bad to worse.

The relegated side were hammered by Old Cholmeleians (80-5) in what was their 14th loss of the season.

Flamstead (177-10) lost ground on the promotion places with defeat against Flitwick II (212-5).

Darren Bassill's 5-30 helped Division Seven high-flyers Redbourn II (130-2) dismiss Wheathampstead II (128-10).

The batsmen then did their job, Chris Godfrey (44), James Bunce (33) and Chris Yorath (33 off 31 balls and six boundaries) hitting well.

Boxmoor's (66-10) promotion hopes were dealt a blow as they were skittled by Hexton (67-4), while Abbots Langley II (156-10) suffered defeat at the hands of Old Finchleians II (174-10).

Hemel Hempstead Town IV (205-10) beat Ickleford II (134-10), and with the bottom two sides to face in their two last games should survive this season.

The bowling of Bren Fowler (4-18), Luke Minett (3-33) and Malc Areington (2-20) did the job after Dinesh Johnson and George Ahye had bagged 41 runs each.

Chipperfield Clarendon III (216-7) look on-course to go up from Division Eight after a win over Offley & Stopsley (155-10), while Kings Langley II (197-7) drew with Botany Bay II (193-9).

Will Johnson (59 not out) and Joe Cooke (56) were their top-scorers as they keep pushing for a top four spot.

Mid-table Langleybury III (153-10) meanwhile went down to Cockfosters III (208-10).

Leverstock Green III (106-8) beat Hatfield Hyde (105-10) by two wickets in Division Nine, while three Dacorum sides continue to lead the way in Division 10.

Great Gaddesden (177-10) are still top having beaten Northwood III (176-10) while second-placed Bovingdon (205-10) beat Old Elizabethans II (106-10) by 99 runs, Andy Woodward's 6-50 helping to secure victory with 18 overs to spare.

Third-placed Berkhamsted III (161-3) also won - by seven wickets against Chorleywood III (160-9). Martin Gough got 5-48 while Tim Buckley scored 72 not out.

Abbots Langley III (142-7) are teetering on the promotion places having seen off Potton Town II (141-2).

Kings Langley III (85-4) had no trouble in seeing off Shenley Village III (84-10), Harry Sambrook (4-15), Michael Owens (3-18) and Roy Barter (2-23) excellent with the ball.

Fellow mid-table side Boxmoor II (65-10) were skittled by Little Berkhamsted Sahibs (66-0).

Flamstead II (163-7) joined rivals Hemel Hempstead Town V in the Division 11 relegation zone with defeat to Botany Bay III (164-3).

Cheshunt conceded their game to Hemel but the drop is still very much on the cards for the Heath Park team.

Division 12 and mid-table side Leverstock Green IV (96-5) chased down Met Police Bushey III's 92-10, while in Division 13 Berkhamsted IV stay top after Chorleywood conceded their game.

Langleybury IV, whose came with Sawbridgeworth was conceded by the opposition, are busy chasing a promotion place.

They are 13 points behind Chipperfield Clarendon IV (237-8), who eased to victory over Shenley Village IV (92-10).
