Comets beat Boars to claim cup for fourth year on spin

The most successful team in the league began the Berkhamsted Sunday League where they left off last term.

Comets Sports Club, Premier Division champions last term, beat Steve Norwood Challenge Cup holders AFC Boars 3-0 in the Brian Williamson Memorial Cup.

The game, played at Hemel Hempstead Town on Sunday, saw Comets take the lead through Nick Jackson with 10 minutes of the first half remaining.

The second half saw Paul Hanafan and Dan Hartley add further goals to secure the cup for the fourth consecutive year for Comets.

League chairman Martin Bayliss presented the cup, established in memory of a former young Hemel Hempstead footballer, to Comets captain Alfie Mullan.

The league begins in full this Sunday.
