Bowler Brown looking for gold on the green
Carol Brown has won through to the County Singles final for the second year running.
The Kings Langley bowler was County Champion in 2003 and is looking to reclaim her crown.
Her club had some mixed results this past week.
They won on five of six rinks against Harperbury in the Mixed Triples to finish 131-72, Bob Alexander, Irene Turtle and Dennis Fitch won 28-13.
Against Herts Club Geoff Eldridge, Richard Cox, Rae Knights and Robert Jones won 22-16 but KL lost the match 60-56.
Sunday saw them lose to Oxhey 62-46, despite Frank Turtle, Doug Dearing, Mick Brown and Alec Beard winning 21-15. The ladies won their friendly to compensate.
Tring will have strong representation in the Watford & District (W&D) League semi-finals following success in the Triples for Pete Routley, David Holloway and Pete Taylor, and Dave Wass in the Singles.
Dave has also reached the semis of the County Officers Singles and Ken Woodward is in the semi of the County Unbadged Singles.
In the W&D League Tring came out on top against North Watford by 30-21 but lost to Bovingdon 85-66, top rink Zena Livesey, Jill Cartland, Ian Croad and Joe Kempster.
They beat Bletchley comfortably 124-103, Dennis Casserley, Ian Croad, Pete Routley and David Holloway top rink.
Berkhamsted edged a five-rink triples match with Wingrave 88-80, and carried on their winning ways against Rivets and then Chalfont St Giles 89-75.
The top rinks respectively were Eric Browitt, Pat Ringwood and Mary Wilbee, and John Webb, Jane Low and Nolan Biggs.
Today sees Berko entertain a Herts County side to help celebrate their 25th year.
A local derby between Potten End and Little Gaddesden went the way of the Enders, 52-40, top rink Sandra Gomm, Eileen Pacitti and Sheila Howling.
The men were narrowly beaten by Harefield 75-71, top rink Peter Hanwell, Arthur Page, Jim Dewart and Stan Durrant, but returned to winning ways against Dunstable Town 92-59. Top rink went to Reg Row, Jim Dewart, Tony Howard and Trevor Jenkins.
A mixed team visited Batchwood Hall and suffered a heavy 108-75 defeat, the top PE rink John Lowe, Lilian Crofts, Gerry Jackson and Carol Durrant.
Bob Anderson and Tom Jordan won through to the W&D Pairs semi, meaning PE have four teams and one individual through to next month's District event.
Kitcheners lost both of their weekend matches. They were beaten 71-69 by Co-op on Saturday, highest rink Dave Richardson, Yvonne Owens, Ken Rowe and Debbie Whiting, while on Sunday they went down to Abbotts Langley, losing on all rinks.
They did however win through to the semi final of the W&D Griffin Cup by beating Bovingdon.
They also won there W&D league game against Owls and against Harpenden 63-61 with Heather Geary, Chris Ivin and Roy Murray highest rink.
Steve Delerfield, Micheal Connell and Roy Phipps are also through to the semis of the W&D Two Wood Triples.
After a slow start to the season Hemel Hempstead got a couple of wins under their belt.
They beat Oxhey 56-47, top rink Dora Gruber, Sylvia Bellett and Betty West but lost in the Friday Night League against Linslade 92-81, best rink Mary Kinzelmann, Roy Payne, Alan Bennitt and Ken Emmins.
Their second victory came against Linslade in the Ladies triples 57-36, top rink Molly Prowen, Sylvia Bellett and Grace Salmon.
The annual Ladies v Men tie was abandoned when torrential rain stopped play.
