GB athletes took five of the top six positions in the event, which comprised a 200m swim, followed by the epée fencing round, and completed with a combined run/shoot event.

Alex, who turns 15 next month, is the reigning GB U15 champion in modern tetrathlon (shoot, swim, run, fence), and won silver in the 2015 U15 modern pentathlon championships.

Late last year, she travelled to Hungary to compete in the Hungarian Open with the U19 GB squad, and finished eighth overall in a tough field.

More recently, she finished 10th overall in one of the UK U19 ranking competitions, held in bath, and was third in the Pony Club Winter Triathlon finals.

Alex is currently in Portugal training with the GB U17 squad. She joined Mike Dunphy’s middle distance at Dacorum & Tring AC last autumn to improve her endurance and has competed for the club in a range of cross country running events over the season, culminating in a strong 17th place in the Herts county championships earlier this year.
