Personal bests at Herts Athletics Championships

It was a day of personal bests for Dacorum & Tring AC field event competitors at the Herts County Athletics Championships.

In the U17 long jump Daniel Hopper managed 6.59m, a personal best to win gold and enter the current top 10 UK rankings for his age.

U17 Jackson Cowans triple jumped 13.14m, a pb to win gold and he also made the UK top 10 rankings.

In the U15s high jump Edward Hopper leapt 1.55m, a pb, to win silver. Michael Fryer pole vaulted 3.60m in the U17s competition to win gold.

In the U20s Sebastian Wadlow threw two golds, in the discus with 26.35m and the javelin with 24.56m.

In the Senior men’s competition Trevor Ratcliffe threw the javelin 51.09m to win gold, Sean Wall sent the javelin 42.15m for silver and shot 11.10m for silver.

Chris Line threw the discus 41.15m for silver and shot 9.89m for bronze.

Bradley Pike triple jumped 12.67m for gold and Matt Williams pole vaulted 3.00m for first place.

There were strong performances from the girls too.

In the U15 Amy Wright threw 34.81m for gold and a new club record in the hammer while Amy Thurgood won two U17s golds, with 1.60m in the high jump and 2.20m in the pole vault.

U15 Milly Gall won silver in the U15 long jump, going over 5m for the first time with 5.01m.

Tia Stonehouse improved her javelin best for a new U15 club record of 32.14m, while in the U17s Mia O’Connell won silver in shot with 10.49m.

On the track U15 Demi Tuinema won a gold in the 200m, winning the tightest finish of the day with 27.0s, a pb. Amelia Woodnick acheived an U15 club record and silver in 75m hurdles 11.8s, also a pb.

There were bronze medals for Demi Tuinema in U15 high jump with a jump of 1.40m, Marli Jessop in the U15 100m with 13.13s and in the long jump with a leap of 4.70m.

There were more third places: Milly Gall in U15 75m hurdles with 12.06s, Leah Moh in U17 shot with 10.18m and 100m with 13.96s, and Remi Jessop in the U17 200m with 27.1s.

Olive Coles fell after the final hurdle in her race but got up and finished with a brave third.
