New club heptathlon record for Talia

Talia Morton-Kemsley has broken D&T AC's points record in her very first Heptathlon competition.

Competing for Herts Under 17s in the Regional Finals at Lee Valley on Saturday and Sunday Talia recorded PBs in 200m (27.5s) and javelin (28.33m) as well as equalling her 80m Hurdles PBwith a time of 12.5s as she recorded a points total of 4172.

Talia was joined in the Herts team by Nikki Greaves who was also in her first Heptathlon.

Nikki recorded PBs in shot with 8.61m, javelin with 30.16m and 800m with 2.47.7s. She also equalled her PBs in the high jump with 1.53m and in the 80m Hurdles with a time of 13.1s. Her points total of 3776 was also a PB.

The girls helped the Herts team finish second of the seven teams from the south of England. Talia finished fifth overall and Nikki 13th of the 28 competitors.

In the under 15 section D&T’s two girls gave really good performances with Milly Gall and Amelia Woodnick both recording new points totals bests.

Milly finished seventh overall with 2718 points and Amelia 11th overall with 2609. Amelia’s would have been better but for clattering the penultimate hurdle, a mistake which cost her around 70 points.

Milly recorded a PB in the shot with 8.78m and Amelia in long jump, 4.84m, and shot (7.80m).

The Herts U15 team finished third overall of the 28 competitors.

Josiah Barker competed for the Herts Under 15 boys squad and finished 17th of the 24 taking part.

Josiah achieved a PB of 9.84m in the shot. His other performances were 80m hurdles (13.0s), long jump 5.15m, high jump 1.46m and 800m 2.41.1. Josiah was pleased to be part of the winning junior boys Herts team and keen to keep up his training and to improve for the finals in September.
